Rich started his career in entertainment at the age of 7 when he secured a spot in the "Wizard of Oz" while in elementary school. His love for the stage expanded to music when he became a percussionist the very same year. Growing up, he was exposed to many varieties of music and cultures. His mother, Linda Cranston believed it was very important for her son to learn all different types of music, not just what was current on the radio at the time.

It wasn't until 1996 when the DJ was born. While a freshman at Mercyhurst College Rich approached the rink manager about incorporating music in the games to increase crowd interaction and overall entertainment quality of the games. He then was named the house DJ for the Men's Division I Ice Hockey & Volleyball teams during their home games. After a few weekends, he started to draw a regular crowd and saw the stands slowly fill as the weeks went by. Rich states "The mere sight of people moving and grooving to the music I played gave me an unbelievable rush. It was a high!" He expanded his work at college to become the "Voice of the Lakers," announcing & color commentating the Men & Women Volleyball matches. He started his mobile dj career working for a local company once back in Rochester in February 1997. There he entertained thousands at weddings, corporate & school parties and other various events. A major highlight was when he earned a spot as Model Search America's Preferred DJ when the production show came to Rochester, NY. They actually had a DJ on staff to go on the road with them all over the country to perform but they told him to stay home when the show came to Rochester!

Rich holds 3 degrees including Business Management & has also completed work at the American Broadcasting Institute. He also speaks Spanish & some Italian! He has worked in commercial radio & promotions with 98PXY, can be heard on radio commercials as a voice-over artist, is contracted as an on-screen talent for TV commercials as well as modeling for media, print ads & promotions. "My diverse background has really given me the edge to apply myself in virtually any situation but music is where my passion lies. Music is an overpowering, emotional force. Past clients describe him as genuine, professional and highly interactive. With backgrounds in music, theatre, radio and business Rich Cranston is an extremely well-rounded Entertainer. Like fellow team Ecstasy team members, he brings his own unique style and charisma to the performance. Rich develops many of the interactive activities our Entertainers currently use at many of our events. He works as a Head MC & DJ for virtually any size or type of event.
